Evie Toombes

I began riding aged 5 after watching my mum compete from the sidelines. Discovering the freedom and joy that riding brings has since meant it’s nearly impossible to stop me from getting in the saddle. Horses have provided a balance for my life being born with Spina Bifida, a condition that affects the nerves to my legs, bladder and bowel, which happens to land me in hospital quite frequently. I’m now 17 and living in Lincolnshire, 30minutes from my horse and teammate Daisy- aka ‘Dinosaur’ (named so appropriately due to our drastic size difference!) who I compete up to 1.05 in able bodied British Showjumping, alongside Para Showjumping too. I’ve been a keen writer since starting my blog ‘Evie Toombes Para Rider’ on Facebook five years ago and have been able to  share my journey, including all the highs, lows and laughs of having huge aims for riding in a body that can’t function! Becoming a Jump 4 Joy ambassador seems a bit surreal, and is such an honour- I can’t wait to share some blogs in the near future through the website and work with Jump 4 Joy for the year ahead.
